Public Health Week


   WHEREAS, the Englewood Health Department will celebrate National Public Health week with daily events for all populations of the Englewood Community from April 3 rd through April 7 th; and


   WHEREAS,April 3 rd is recognized by the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids as “Kick Butts Day,” an annual initiative that encourages activism and leadership among elementary, middle and high school students; and


   WHEREAS,the World Health Organization recognizes April 7 th , 2006 as “World Health Day 2006” with the theme, “Working Together for Health.” On this day around the Globe, attention will be focused on the global health workforce and people will celebrate the dignity and value of working for health; and


   WHEREAS,National Public Health Week, observed annually by the American Public Health Association, draws attention to the role of public health at the local, state and national levels; and


   WHEREAS,the National Public Health Week theme, “Designing Healthy Communities” will focus on helping communities assess the current status of the built environment, determine the impact it has on children's health, and identify areas for improvement.


   NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael J. Wildes, Mayor of the City of Englewood, do hereby proclaim April 3 rd to 7 th , 2006, Public Health Week, and encourage all residents of the City of Englewood to pay honor and tribute.
