Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes met with Director Richard Canas of the State of NJ Office of Homeland Security at City Hall to discuss Englewood's preparedness in the event of of a major calamity; record management system; and catastrophic planning. Topics reviewed included security in the school district; Englewood Hospital and Medical Center's capacity; and a overall discussion of the city's houses of worship as it relates to their vulnerabilities, etc. During Director Canas' presentation, he stated that the City of Englewood is located in the highest risk area in the nation. The Mayor and the Deputy Police Chief shared some of their concerns, which included an aggressive plan to evaluate the city's law enforcement resources; funding; and the ability to educate its officials; teachers; and citizenry.
