The arrest came as a result of a joint investigation by Detectives of the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief David Bowman and Detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Task Force under the direction of Chief Joseph Macellaro.

The investigation began in October 2007 when Englewood detectives responded to complaints from area residents concerning narcotics trafficking on First Street . On Friday, June 20, 2008 at approximately 10:30 am, members of the Englewood Police Department Street Enforcement Unit (SEU) and Investigator's from the Bergen County Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant on Mr. Taafe's apartment and placed him under arrest. Detectives recovered a defaced .22 caliber handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition and approximately 81 grams of Crack Cocaine. Also recovered were screens, sifters, bowls, baking soda and a digital scale, all consistent with maintaining a drug facility.

Chief Bowman would like to thank the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office for their invaluable assistance, cooperation and resources provided during the course of this investigation.
