Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes and the Englewood Environmental Commission hosted an Arbor Day Celebration last Saturday, May 2, 2009. A Northern Red Oak tree in Depot Square was dedicated to the late Englewood historian Eleanor Harvey and free tree seedlings were given to the public. The Northern Red Oak, New Jersey's state tree, was planted last year in Depot Square in memory of Eleanor Harvey, a long time Englewood resident who died in 2007. She was well known as a teacher, historian, and champion of trees. Mayor Wildes and his family have donated a commemorative plaque, which was installed at the base of this tree and dedicated during this Arbor Day celebration.
